14 June 2007: The Commission has today adopted a European Action Plan for "Ageing Well in the Information Society" - this includes the adoption of the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme:

March 2007: An AAL open day was held on 21 March 2007 in Brussels to inform further European countries on the forthcoming AAL programme. Presentations are available from

The "Europe Is Facing a Demographic Challenge - Ambient Assisted Living Offers Solutions" report highlights the view on ageing societies in Europe in general and clarifies the potential for AAL169 to offer solutions for this phenomenon. The report is available here.
